There is a spirit of unrest in the land- and no, it’s not political. It’s not the economy. It’s something that no government or legislation or committee can fix or repair or develop a referendum on. It’s a matter of the heart.

You Are Loved. You are a child of the King, and He loves you. There are also thousands of brothers and sisters in Christ who love you too, just give them a chance!Despite all the media noise about political unrest at home and abroad, or about the condition of the world economy, there is one thing that we all need that can carry us through the worst of situations or disasters. That is Love.

Our bodies may get cold or hot or ill or hungry, but when we have a confidence that we are loved, and have love inside us, we can bear up under the worst of circumstances.

I Peter 1:22-25 NASB

22Since you have in obedience to the truth purified your souls for a sincere love of the brethren, fervently love one another from the heart, 23for you have been born again not of seed which is perishable but imperishable, that is, through the living and enduring word of God.

24For,
“ALL FLESH IS LIKE GRASS,
AND ALL ITS GLORY LIKE THE FLOWER OF GRASS.
THE GRASS WITHERS,
AND THE FLOWER FALLS OFF,

25BUT THE WORD OF THE LORD ENDURES FOREVER.”
And this is the word which was preached to you.

Don’t listen to those who would prejudice you by telling you that others hate you. Don’t be swayed by what you hear in the news media. Yes, people- men and women- are going to disappoint and hurt youl; there may be moments in time where you are unsure of just where you will find the love that your mind and body need for strength. But when mere humans fail you- US, that is the time that you need to realize that the one constant TRUE love is the Love of God.
John 3:16. Most people have heard this verse over and over again, and Praise God, the truth of it never strains or struggles. But more importantly, one needs to read on beyond the single verse;

16“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. 17“For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. 18“He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19“This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil. 20“For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21“But he who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God.”

Darrel Morlan Goes Home To Glory

Darrel Lee Morlan, Gone Home To Blend His Golden Voice In Glory

Southern Gospel Music lost another of its golden earthbound voices, last week, as brother Darrel Lee Morlan, Tenor singer for the Signature Quartet of Carthage Missouri, went home to be with Jesus.  Having met the man on a few occasions and conversed with him only for a short while, I sensed the heart of a great man of God in him, and the fruits of his labors stand as proof of Darrel’s willingness to give his life to God and for His people.

Darrel Lee Morlan, 62, of Monett passed away Thursday July 12, 2012 at his home. He was born July 6, 1950 in Wheaton, MO the son of Beulah (Potter) Morlan and the late Jack Morlan. He was united in marriage on September 18, 1970 in Monett, MO to Donna Spain she survives.   He was a retired rural letter carrier for the U.S. Post Office and was active in his home church, 1st Baptist in Cassville, MO. Darrel also sang gospel music across the United States with several groups, including The Morlan Family, The Gospel Lads, and The Signature Quartet.

Darrel is survived by his mother: Beulah Morlan; wife: Donna Morlan, Monett; one son: John Morlan, wife Erin, Monett; one daughter: Julie Morlan, Purdy; one brother: Dale Morlan, Monett; two sisters: Clara Dodson, Purdy, and Janie Knight, Purdy; several nieces, nephews, extended family, and good friends. He is preceded in death by his father Jack.

Graveside services for Darrel are being held Tuesday July 17, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Arnhart Cemetery in Purdy, MO with Dr. John Duncan officiating.  Family and friends are welcome to call anytime after 12:00 p.m. on Monday July 16, 2012 at Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett, MO.

There will be a singing celebration of Darrel’s life on Sunday July 29, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at the 1st Baptist Church in Cassville, MO.   In lieu of flowers or plants, the family requests donations in Darrel’s name to The Show Me Christian Youth Home or Royal Family Kids Camp.  Or, as Darrel always suggested, just go out and have a nice dinner with someone you love.

Arrangements are under the care of Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett, MO.
