Esh Family Tribute

The Esh Family - singing gospel and spreading the good news of salvation through Jesus ChristJohn and Sadie Esh were dedicated Christians, serving God and their community with unfailing passion. Their faith permeated every area of their lives; John Esh was a man of prayer who had a passion for the Glory of God and showed it in everything he put his hands to. This vision was transfused to family, friends, and anyone who came into touch with him on a personal level.

Leading their family in supporting themselves by hard work, the family built storage sheds at home, creating quite a reputation for quality work. They were actively involved in their Mennonite community, often being first to respond to needs observed around them.

The Eshes were singing together, even when their family was still quite small. Growing, eventually, to a tribe including twelve children who loved to bless the people in their community with their songs. Soon, they produced their own albums, writing many of their own songs. During this process, Sadie became enthusiastic about distributing their music, faithfully responding to telephone and mail order requests for their CDs. Even after their deaths, it is through these recordings that they continue to bless people.

The Esh children also launched out into Christian missions, as they grew. Sadly, this also brought the Esh family their first major confrontation with the sting of death; While on one such trip to the Ukraine, Johnny Esh was killed in a snowmobiling accident. It was through this experience, the Esh family learned to see God’s love in the midst of grief.

We have this confidence- the Eshes who died now live in paradise. For the remaining family, tragedy has made both their faith and their love for God more precious than ever, envisioning their family as rejoicing in eternal bliss. Determined, not to be sidetracked by temporal pain, but to look for the beauty that is God revealed through the veil.

In case they look familiar, it’s because Justin Crawford, Peggy Crawford and Gary Crawford are the trio that make up Crawford And Co, formerly Known as Canaan Bound out of Joplin, Missouri.

I had the pleasure of catching up with them at a recent concert in Carthage Missouri.  The Trio host the monthly concert, known as the “First Friday Sing” at Fairview Christian Church and are highly active in ministry with far-reaching efforts.

I’ve included a few of their songs in this episode, and love to share them in just about each new release of Gospel Music Roundup.  Gary Crawford pens almost all of the group’s music, and is the lead singer on many of the songs as well.  Check them out at Crawford & Co’s Website, by clicking here!
